Sealcoating, Paving and Driveway Repair Across Suffolk County
Reitman Sealcoating, Inc. is based at 135 West Hills Road in Huntington Station, in the heart of Suffolk County. We seal, pave and repair blacktop driveways here. Bob Reitman, president and founder, started in the trade in 1977 and has 49 years of paving and sealcoating experience. Most of our Suffolk work is in the Town of Huntington and the Town of Smithtown, from Cold Spring Harbor and Lloyd Harbor to Northport, Commack, St. James and Nesconset, with regular work in Deer Park, East Islip and the surrounding communities.
This page covers what we do in Suffolk County, when to do it, and the towns we serve. For a full explanation of sealcoating itself, what it does, what it does not do and how a driveway is sealed, read our Sealcoating page and the Long Island Sealcoating guide.
We come to you. There is no showroom to visit. We look at the driveway or lot in person, quote it on the spot in writing, and do the work at your home or job site.
What We Do in Suffolk County
Driveway Sealcoating
Our main service in Suffolk County is hand brushed driveway sealcoating with STAR-SEAL. We fill cracks and hot patch broken spots first, clean the surface, then brush the sealer on edge to edge. Brushed sealer goes on thicker than sprayed sealer and lasts longer. If several neighbors on one street seal the same day, ask about our neighborhood discount.
Blacktop Driveway Paving
When a driveway is past repair, we pave new blacktop driveways and replace old ones, from the base up. Our Paving page explains how to tell whether you need a repair or a new driveway, how the work is done and how to care for new blacktop.
Hot Patching and Driveway Repair
Potholes, sunken sections and broken edges get hot patched with hot mix asphalt, which bonds to the old pavement and holds. We repair driveways on their own or as the first step before sealcoating. See our driveway repair page for how cracks and potholes form and why early repair costs less.
Parking Lot Sealcoating and Paving
We sealcoat, repair and pave parking lots for Suffolk County businesses, offices, houses of worship, condominium and homeowner associations and apartment complexes. Commercial work is scheduled around your hours so the lot is back in use as soon as the surface cures.
Belgian Block Aprons and Masonry
A Belgian block border or apron gives a blacktop driveway a finished edge and protects it from crumbling. We install borders, aprons and inlays along with a new driveway or add them to an existing one.
Suffolk County Driveways: What We See
Suffolk County driveways are longer and more varied than most in Nassau. In Dix Hills, Lloyd Harbor, Nissequogue and Fort Salonga we seal driveways that run a few hundred feet, often with a slope and a Belgian block apron at the street. Long driveways show wear first at the top, where cars turn, and at the bottom, where runoff collects. We look at both when we quote.
Because our yard is in Huntington Station, our crews are in and out of Huntington, Greenlawn, East Northport, Elwood, Melville and Commack all season. That means short travel, flexible scheduling and quick follow up if you have a question after the work is done.
The Suffolk waterfront communities, Asharoken, Eatons Neck, Centerport, Halesite and Northport, get more wind, salt air and standing water than inland neighborhoods. A sealed driveway sheds that water instead of soaking it up, which is what keeps the surface from cracking over the winter.
When to Sealcoat a Suffolk County Driveway
Seal a new blacktop driveway one year after it is installed, once the pavement has cured. After that, reseal every two years. Sealing more often than that wastes money, and waiting much longer lets sun and water start breaking down the surface. Signs it is time: the blacktop has turned gray, the surface looks dry and rough, or small cracks are showing.
We sealcoat from spring into fall, when the pavement is dry and warm enough for the sealer to cure. Popular weeks fill up, so Suffolk County homeowners who call early get the dates they want.

Suffolk County Sealcoating Questions
How often should I sealcoat my driveway in Suffolk County?
Seal a new driveway one year after it is installed, then reseal every two years. That schedule keeps the surface protected without paying for coats you do not need.
Which parts of Suffolk County do you serve?
Our office is in Huntington Station, so most of our work is in the Town of Huntington and the Town of Smithtown, with regular work in the Town of Babylon and the Town of Islip. The towns listed on this page have their own pages. If yours is not listed, call and ask.
Do you spray or brush the sealer?
We brush it by hand. Brushed STAR-SEAL goes on thick and is worked into the surface. Sprayed sealer has to be thinned to go through a sprayer, so it goes on thin and wears off sooner.
Can you repair my driveway before sealing it?
Yes. We hot patch potholes and broken sections and fill cracks first, then seal the whole driveway. Sealer alone will not fix a hole, so the repair has to come first.
Do you offer neighborhood discounts in Suffolk County?
Yes. If we can do several driveways on one street the same day, we save on travel and pass the savings on. Call (631) 549-5455 and mention your neighbors.
Do you sealcoat and pave parking lots in Suffolk County?
Yes. We sealcoat, hot patch and pave parking lots for businesses, offices, houses of worship and homeowner associations across western and central Suffolk County, scheduled around your hours.
